About

IMG_5299My name is Catherine. I am a Mormon stay-at-home mom of three girls who lives in Florida. I love to cook, run, and eat good food.

I started blogging when my oldest was 1 because people were always asking me for recipes, and I liked sharing them. Over the 5 years since, I’ve taken breaks as priorities shifted: I was too sick during pregnancy to even look at photos of food, I was sleepless with newborns, we were living abroad, etc.

At first my recipes emphasized ease and kid-approved taste, but in the last 5 years I’ve learned more about food as fuel for our lives, and I’ve come to believe that clean, whole, good-for-you foods are necessary to give me the energy and health I need to keep up with my girls and keep myself running.

Then my youngest was born with MSPI (milk- and soy-protein intolerance), so I’ve been on a mission to find dairy- and soy-free (and often other allergen-free) foods that are delicious for everyone, because dietary restrictions shouldn’t mean flavor restrictions.

So Make Myself at Home has evolved over the years, as I have. But my current philosophy is to emphasize clean, healthy foods that accommodate dietary restrictions and are delicious enough for the whole family–from health-nut moms to picky kids to wary husbands–to love eating. Occasionally I’ll still post old family favorites that aren’t 100% clean, but that’s only because balance is what helps me be successful in my ongoing health journey.

I love meeting new people & getting more inspiration! Leave a comment!
